Inspired by Panamanian molas, Batik on 10 oz duck, pretty heavy canvas. 37"x30" Treated with polyurethane for long wear and easy clean up a with damp cloth! These are great design accents and work well on the floor inside a door with low floor clearnace. They can also be used for table toppers.
Batik is a process of fabric dyeing that uses wax to resist the activity of dye. I dye and wax in many steps. The wax is applied when melted, but cools and can crack, allowing dye to seep into the cracks. Because the wax obscures the fabric, the final appearance of the piece after wax removal is often surprising.
All of my batiks come from a smoke free home with Cat Patrol.
Optional Latex rubber backing can be added for no extra charge, just 4 days longer.
